Information for Educators and Parents
•    School Advisory Toolkit This free kit provides parents and educators with practical guidelines and training to address a child’s daily medical needs, emotional and legal issues, and responsibilities for dealing with diabetes during school.
•    Online Diabetes Support Team Volunteers answer specific questions about school issues, as well as providing support and information on other aspects of life with type 1 diabetes.
•    DECK (Diabetes Education in the Community for Kids) Joanne Hanson, RN, gives free diabetes education training to school staff (nurses, teachers, bus drivers, health teachers) daycare providers, Girl or Boy Scout troops, and other interested groups throughout the state. •    Emergency Diabetes Checklists In times of crisis or natural disaster, these forms explain the clinical aspects of type 1 diabetes to people unfamiliar with the disease, and what to do in case of a diabetic emergency. Includes forms for T1 care at school like a list of hyper- and hypoglycemia symptoms, blood sugar log, supply list for school, glucagon use form, and parent and doctor contact form.

•    Life with Diabetes in College Help your child prepare for college life, manage the disease independently, optimize health and nutrition, work out issues with roommates, find the best campus healthcare, and deal with a new diagnosis in college.
•    Juvenation Online Social Network (age 13 & up) Share stories, start a blog, join an online discussion, upload videos, and make new friends who understand life with diabetes.
